The Funeral Luncheon Ministry began in our parish in January 1986 as a much-needed service of compassion and comfort to families of deceased parishioners. Saint Joseph Parish averages 50 funerals a year; this equates to thousands of hours of service offered willingly by dedicated volunteers, and countless dishes of food generously provided by parishioners. The original group of men and women involved in calling for food donations, setting tables, serving the food, and cleaning up, has dwindled somewhat due to aging, illness, and death, so there is a need for more volunteers, both men and women, to carry on this much-appreciated ministry.
